Dangers of Fast Weight Loss Diets

Let’s be honest, everyone is under a lot of pressure to lose weight. Our society rewards people are thin and sexy. Just think about what type of people you find attractive. People want to lose weight as fast as possible to look good and feel good. Along with being thin, you also more up the ladder socially in our society. 34% of Americans are overweight and many of them are not satisfied with the way they look. A recent study at the University of California at Berkeley reported that more than two-thirds of women between the ages of 12 and 23 were dissatisfied with their weight. Women in that survey were also asked if given the opportunity to lose weight quickly would they be willing to do so, and only 13% said they would not. That proves that women want to lose weight quickly and are not scarred to take risks to make that happen.

As a result we see so many women with eating disorders and yo-yo dieting habits that are so unhealthy and hard on their bodies. Weight loss is pursued through dangerous means of low calorie intake, fasting, over exercising and the misuse of drugs like laxatives. The message is load and clear. Diets are only part of the answer and losing weight quick is not the healthiest way to maintain your health. Most nutritionists recommend a healthy diet, exercise and supplements to make up for anything that may have been missed.
